Macarons : Attempt #1

First attempt at making macarons!

For our first try, we used the basic macaron recipe and added chocolate filling.

They were actually... not. that. bad! I thought it was going to turn out really weird and burnt and out of shape! But it turned out really nice and it tasted good! (Well not up to Whisk standard quite yet. But we're heading in that direction.Teehee.) Ana and I are definitely making this again sometime. (:

MACARONS FTW.

Red, Red, Red.

Red Velvet is personally a family favourite.

My grandmother never fails to make this cake for Raya every single year, so it is no surprise how my sister and I really do enjoy making these cakes in a smaller, bite-sized version: our Red Velvet Cuppycakes. (:

During my short excursion back to KL, I planned to meet up with some close friends before I head back to Trengganu for Ramadhan and Eid (and they scatter around the globe pursuing their respective courses.) It's not everyday you have friends flying off to Europe, no? I wasn't going to meet some of these guys in a few years - so I figured...

"Why not bake something?"

Red Velvet - fresh out of the oven.

Once frosted, even Angry Birds love it!

I only brought 6 pieces to the mini-reunion. Huda and Harman each managed to snag a cupcake each and they said it was really, really good. And Harman is not a big fan of frosting. And he still loved the cupcake! (:

Unfortunately, Amir didn't get to taste any. He brought the remaining cupcakes home and told his siblings about it - and now all that's left are four rainbow-coloured paper cups with nothing but crumbs. Oh well. Tough luck, Amir. Maybe I'll bake you some in 2 or 3 years, when you get back from Ireland with that leprechaun I asked for. :D

100 Apams!

Yes, each dot was piped onto the apam one by one. And it comes with blueberry and chocolate filling. Making this required a lot of work (we could only steam 12 at a time), but the end product was totally worth it. (:

Thanks to Ana's teacher for ordering this!

Thank youuu (:

After the terrible, terrible turn of events (which was the sales at Jaja's school) we decided that we had to be better at selling our cupcakes. It wasn't that our cupcakes tasted weird or anything - believe it or not, the cupcakes, all 250 of them were finished - but it didn't quite meet the selling standards. We knew we had the taste down, we just had to get our stylo-mylo on!

So, this week - we did our best to make them look all pretty and stuff. And the orders just came rolling in. (: So this is a big thank you note from me (and Ana!) to all of Ana's friends who have ordered this week. You give us the motivation to keep going bigger and better. Enjoy your cupcakes! :D

Chocolate and Vanilla cupcakes for Mimi and Pypoh, Ana's friends

4 Al- Kindi, SMK Dato' Razali Ismail

I don't know why this picture won't rotate itself.  Sorry! (;

Chocolate cupcake, chocolate frosting, butter cream spots! Om nom nom!

How about some fancy piping gel?

Or... fancy patterns? I know it's not Halloween but I love spiderwebs. :D

Or... just go simple with some colourful sprinkles!

Once again, THANK YOU!

Piping Gel! (:

Rose :3

Butterflee~

Heart shape

Crown

and a Star! xD

Vanilla Cuppycakes decorated with buttercream icing and PIPING GEL! Decided to do blue piping gel because I thought blue would go just nice with the white buttercream. Plus it gives some sort of shimmer. Haha.

Anyway, tried to make blue flowers with green stalks. Used a lot of energy trying to open the bottle of green colouring but ended up staining my hands green instead. So I gave up on green. Ahahahaha. What's worst is that I accidentally wiped my forehead with my green fingers. Yaya just said, 'Pagi esok, mandi.'

-.-'

Oh well. It turned out so cute. Piping gel sedap. Kakak and I even wrote names using pipng gel. That's it 4 today! Thanks.

First. Major. Project.

Lemon-flavoured glace icing

Milk-flavoured glace icing

Colour dia buleh tukor. Nok gelap or cerah... (:

Izzah ordered 250 cupcakes last night. She then added 'Kalau rajin, buat 500.'
-___-:

Finished baking at 1 a.m.

What happens if you bake until 1 a.m.?

Sakit blakang duk isi cupcake, doh la tumpoh kat tepi. Cups dia takmo duk diam pulok tu. Kakak ingat nk cellotape cupcake doh smalam. Sakit blakang masa icing - dok soh cite la... Tobat sakit. Mujor la sayang ke adik nung. At one point, kakak wat panic tak cukup cups! Orang beli banyok doh padahal. Kakak dok nampok ada gi lam beg. Aduh...

Anyways... MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! C:

Dalam pada colouring pelik, cupcake naik senget, ada hok shrink... Alhamdulillah. Safely delivered to Izzah's school today. By bus.

For the first time jumpa bell untuk tekan. (Punya lah malas nok kabo ke drebar nok breti mana)

xD

Vanilla Cuppycakes. (:

Comes with whatever kind of frosting you like. (:

Kak Yaya says "So good you can even eat it on it's own!"

Ciplak line Gardenia. -____-;;;

Apams, apams, apams!

Apams are super fun and easy to make! Problem is, once you make it - you get HUNDREDS of them in a single batch. -___-;;

Good thing is - these babies are real good, so they disappear in no time. (:

How about some plain apams?

...or the famous Apam Polkadot?

...or fancy custom-made ones like this! This one was made for our Daddy on Father's Day. (:
Bak = Daddy in Trengganu-speak. Just FYI. Hahaa

And these musn't be plain old apams - you can have 'em with fillings too.

Chocolate or blueberry - have your pick! (:

Chocolate Cuppycakes

Chocolate cupcakes with butter cream icing. (:

Ana says "You can also have them with CHOCOLATE frosting. Double choc. Nyum!"

Red Velvet Cuppycakes

Comes with cream cheese frosting (:

Yes, I know it's not that red. When Ana and I made this, it just so happened that we ran out of red colouring. Hence this pathetic attempt at mixing the remaining two drops of red dye with a bit of blue, turning it a Purple Velvet. (It was almost Baby Pink Velvet!)

Note to self: Always keep spare dye!

Ana says, "You can always have different coloured velvets!"

Yeah, anyone up for Blue Velvet Cupcakes?

xD
